Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is an actor from Denmark. Danish actor. He has played Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) as well as the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. When he was 27, he entered the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from the school in 1995. He was also a part of The Killing's drama. After that, he played in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, which were both highly popular Danish drama series. He was also a key role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock which featured him as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards he played the president of Russia. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his character in the main character of the Danish TV drama Herrensveje. It was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019.
