Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his parents and a commitment in the local community. The first line of his family was that his father was the youngest of nine kids who were raised in Eufala with Lucious Selmon. In second football, he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. He was awarded two championships as well as 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third year in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work throughout his time at college. After graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times, he was named an All-Pro. Then he began his business career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relation Officer in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 youngsters from the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds in the time he played football at college. In 1975, he was the captain of the squad. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named him on the 28th of October, the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
